Number 10- Tom Cruise’s Scary Childhood
Tom Cruise grew up in a poor household, along with his three sisters.  His abusive father abused him, beating him on a regular basis, and ruled over the family with an iron fist. Because his father had trouble holding down a job, the family was forced to relocate often.  As a result, Cruise attended 15 different schools in a matter of 12 years. When he was just 12-years-old, his father walked out of his life, leaving Tom as the only man amongst a family of women.  All of a sudden, he became the father figure for his three sisters, and did his best to set a good example for them. But, just like his home life, things weren’t easy at school. He was insecure about his short stature and crooked teeth (his family couldn’t exactly afford top-notch dental care).  Thus, he was an easy target, and bullies pushed him around often

Number 9- He split from all three wives when they turned 33. Freudians would have a field day with this one. Mimi Rogers was wife number one, they split in 1989. Cruise separated from his second spouse, Nicole Kidman, in 2001, while he and Katie Holmes called time on their marriage in 2012. Each wife was 11 years younger than the last. Any women currently aged 27, form an orderly queue.

Number 8- October 10 is officially Tom Cruise day in Japan
Since 2006, October 10 has been recognized as Tom Cruise Day in Japan, honoring the fact that he’s visited the country more than any other Western actor. Well According to the Japan Memorial Day Association, he was awarded with his own day because of his love for and close association with Japan. After all his film, The Last Samurai, grossed $117 million more in Japan than it did in the US. During his public relations tour of Japan to promote Mission: Impossible III he included a trip on the bullet train from Osaka to Tokyo, during which he had his photo taken with more than 100 fans. That’s kinda sweet actually.

Number 7- Tom Cruise was diagnosed with Dyslexia.
Tom Cruise admits he was diagnosed with dyslexia when he was 7 years old. Cruise claims the learning disability made him anxious, frustrated and bored as a youngster, and that he was “functionally illiterate” when he graduated high school in 1980. The action star credits Scientology with teaching him to read well as an adult. During his school years, Tom would often ask his mother to help him with his homework. She would write for him while he dictated and afterwards, he would copy her words carefully. His mother was a special educations teacher. Although she was tired from work, she would always find time to help him.

Number 6- Tom Cruise almost became a priest
he was a devout Catholic, attended a Catholic seminary, and was on track to become a priest –  until he got kicked out. He had a very strong Catholic faith, & he went to Mass, spent time in the chapel and enjoyed hearing stories from the priests. But he couldn’t resist the urge for some awesome wine, which we kinda get. Tom didn’t keep his once-devout Catholic faith in the process. After hitting it big, his first (of unfortunately several) wives introduced him to Scientology – and he fully embraced it.

During rehearsals for A Few Good Men, Kevin Pollock noticed Tom Cruise making notes in his script with a ridiculously huge pen. At first, they joked about it. Then, Cruise convinced Pollock to try writing with it. “It’s like an angel wing floating on a cloud. It was a magical pen,” Pollock recalled to the Chive. Even Demi Moore agreed the pen was a total joy to use. When Pollock learned the pen cost $500, he was crestfallen. Later, Cruise’s assistant showed up with a gift: the luxury writing utensil itself. When Pollock admitted to his co-star that he hadn’t used the pen because he felt it deserved a special spot on his mantle, Cruise bought him a second $500 pen — one for the mantle, and one for Pollock’s pocket. How sweet is that!

Number 4- Aladdin is made to look like him
This fact is actually pretty cool. The Disney character is voiced by Michael J. Fox, but his face is actually modeled after Tom Cruise. Producer Jeffrey Katzenberg reportedly thought this would make the character more attractive to women.

Originally Aladdin’s character design was based on Michael J. Fox, but Jeffrey Katzengberg wanted Aladdin to be an iconic hero type, so he suggested a look more inspired by Tom Cruise.

Number 3- He got RayBan Sunglasses out of bankruptcy
Ok so this is what a super famous, charming face can do to your brand. The sunglass company was reportedly on the brink of bankruptcy, selling only 18,000 pairs in 1981 and falling. But according to Medium, that changed when Cruise signed a $50,000 year-deal with the company in 1982. He then notably wore them in movies, including Risky Business, which alone led to a 50% boost in sales. Well avaitors by RayBan are still loved & a comfortable safe fashion accessory, thanks to Tom Cruise.

Number 2- He reportedly records his conversations with reporters. He’s really cautious about celebrity interviews. Is this weird or smart? Either way you look at it, it’s actually not a normal thing for a celebrity to do. Kate Coyne wrote a memoir called I’m Your Biggest Fan: Awkward Encounters and Assorted Misadventures in Celebrity Journalism. In it, she talks about her weird interview with Tom Cruise. Coyne claims she was recording the interview for her story for Good Housekeeping. She then realized that he too was recording by having a tape recorder on a table in the room. “To this day, he is the only celebrity to have recorded an interview that I was recording,” she wrote.

Number 1- Tom Cruise nearly died while performing his Burj Khalifa Stunt
Would you consider scaling the tallest building in the world with some suction cups on your hands? Tom Cruise didn’t even blink at it in 2011’s Mission: Impossible Ghost Protocol. Tom actually scaled the world’s tallest building, Burj Khalifa in Dubai, at 2,722 feet above ground. And yes, he did it all himself, no stunt double! Cruise trained for months, but didn’t anticipate the heavy crosswinds that he endured at that height. He ended up smashing into the building several times. The movie was insured by an insurance company until he came out with the idea of doing the scene himself. The insurance company objected because there were chances of Tom Cruise falling off and obviously killing himself. Which would mean no movie and a huge insurance claim. However cruise just doesn’t like setbacks, he does what he has to. So he simply fired the insurance company and went ahead with the plan anyway but almost got himself killed in the process.

Well we are thrilled by this 57 year old Hollywood Celebrity. Tom Cruise is one of the hardest working performers in Hollywood history. His determination has taken him places. Cruise is undoubtedly one of the most kind hearted & courageous men we know.
